Our journey into this life always begins with birth and inevitably, despite medical advances our desires otherwise also always ends in death, OUR DEATH, it is our birthright, there are no exceptions, death does not have eyes veiled by money, prestige or color, death unites us as human beings, it connects our hearts, our families and our communities. Entry into and exit from consciousness is, after all, the only TWO experiences we can absolutely count on sharing as human beings.
Heart of Dying Project is a community outreach program designed to challenge our fear-based ideas surrounding death and dying. Through authentic dialogue and education, a contemplative compassionate and courageous exploration will, hopefully, blossom and bloom within our communities, enabling us to feel more empowered in our choices when approaching our own end-of-life. When we learn to fully embrace the process of our own death--both individually and as a community of human, we will begin to grasp that we all share, in essence, the same journeys into life and death. Through education, courageous conversation, advocacy and support, we believe that connecting on a heart level is possible.
The amount of people in need of this type of compassionate end of life care is only going to increase. We will continue to expand within the community offering different events as we explore together this sacred journey of living and dying. We never again need only be motivated to unite as communities by epic tragedies, but instead, hopefully, we will one day see the biggest tragedy of all occurs everyday someone dies alone, homeless and unloved. Compassionate end of life care is a vital part of ahealthy community united in love.
